Scaling up low-carbon energy: Economic, geopolitical, and environmental impacts
MIT webinar features presentations by Joint Program Deputy Director Sergey Paltsev and Founding Co-Director Emeritus Henry Jacoby.

The energy sector is facing unprecedented challenges, with the global Covid-19 pandemic complicating an already challenging transition toward a low-carbon future. One of the key elements in addressing both the current pandemic and climate change is with forward-looking collaborations in technology development and innovation—which have long been a hallmark of MIT’s approach to problem solving.

This spring and early summer, MIT's Industrial Liaison Program (ILP) and Energy Initiative (MITEI) presented a special webinar series with leading researchers and experts in the energy domain sharing their insights on important themes.

The final webinar in the series, “Scaling up low-carbon energy: Economic, geopolitical, and environmental impacts,” took place online on July 7 and was moderated by MITEI Director Robert Armstrong. This webinar featured a presentation by MIT Joint Program Deputy Director Sergey Paltsev on scaling up low-carbon energy, followed by a panel of industry representatives from Iberdrola, National Grid, Dow Chemical and ExxonMobil, and closing remarks by Joint Program Founding Co-Director Emeritus Henry Jacoby.
