November 03, 2009,
4:00pm - 6:00pm

Speakers: Peter Rogers (Harvard), John Briscoe (Harvard), Franklin Fisher (MIT), Susan Murcott (MIT). Abstract: The world's population explosion is overwhelming the supply of water. Climate change and pollution are reducing the availability of useable water. The consequences are water deficits, starvation, disease, political instability and regional conflicts. The Catherine N. Stratton Critical Issues Lecture brings together four professionals who have spent years studying and working on water problems around the world. Peter Rogers, Harvard Professor of Environmental Engineering and City and Regional Planning; John Briscoe, Harvard School of Public Health Professor of the Practice of Environmental Health; Franklin Fisher, MIT Professor of Microeconomics; and Susan Murcott, MIT Senior Lecturer working to develop water and wastewater treatment technologies for developing countries around the world.
