Location:
MCAN 2008 Climate Action Conference, organized by the Mass. Climate Action Network and MIT's Technology and Culture Forum. The conference theme - The Power of One, the Power of All - reflects the historic mission and makeup of MCAN: to get individuals involved in climate change advocacy, to work with individual chapters, grassroots organizations, and non-profit groups, and to provide an overarching vision and voice at a state level (to "speak with one voice") in pushing for progressive climate change policies and regulations. MCAN has many individual members, a large and growing network of chapters scattered throughout Massachusetts, and relationships with many partner organizations. We reach both individuals (one) and a large constituency (all). Keynote addresses include: "Massachusetts Leadership on Climate Change" by Ian Bowles, MA Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs; "Cool Massachusetts: A Community-Based Strategy for Reducing the State's Carbon Footprint One Household at a Time" by David Gershon,
CEO of Empowerment Institute and author of Low Carbon Diet: A 30 Day Program to Lose 5,000 Pounds, winner of the Independent Publisher "Most Likely to Save the Planet" book award.
