Liquified Natural Gas - Expanding the Horizons of International Gas Trade

March 19, 2009,
10:00am - 12:00pm

Jim Jensen, of Jensen and Associates, will present a seminar in the MIT Energy Initiative's Natural Gas Speaker Series. Abstract: This presentation will trace the history of LNG markets leading up to the present when growing LNG supply will encounter recession-induced declines in gas demand and somewhat unexpected unconventional gas surplus in North America. The immediate outlook is for sharp price competition in the period of 2009 to 2011, which will in turn shape the LNG supply/demand outlook for the years beyond 2011. The presentation will review potential future supply sources discussing the geopolitical, technical and economic constraints on their availability. It will then discuss world gas price formation and the role that LNG will play in creating a possible world gas market. (Jensen's website)
