2014 IAP Class: Global Change Science

January 23, 2014,
1:00pm - 3:00pm

Curious about hot topics such as Typhoon Haiyan, extreme weather, Short Lived Climate Pollutants, Keystone XL pipeline, Obama Climate Action Plan, and UN climate talks?

Join graduate students of MIT’s Joint Program on the Science & Policy of Global Change for two info-packed Independent Activities Period (IAP) lectures with the science and policy you need to understand this truly global issue.

The talk will walk through the greenhouse effect, introduce the human-induced and natural climate forcing components such as greenhouse gas emissions, ozone, volcanic eruptions, aerosols, and Short Lived Climate Pollutants. Emphasis will be on the complexity and uncertainty regarding current understanding and future projections of earth's climate. The link between climate and extreme weather will also be discussed.
