My enduring research interest is to design methods to describe the behaviour of Stochastic Fields and Processes better. I broadly study Estimation, Control and Information theories, and topics in Statistical Pattern Recognition and Statistical Inference and Learning. My research suggests new algorithms to overcome the curses of nonlinearity, dimensionality and uncertainty, the key characteristics of Earth System problems hindering effective inference. Contributions have been made to Mesoscale Data Assimilation, Storm Tracking, Ecological Informatics, Quantifying Hurricane Risk and Experimental Fluid Dynamics.
