Florian Allroggen is the Executive Director, Aerospace Climate & Sustainability, and a Research Scientist in MIT’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He co-leads the MIT Laboratory for Aviation and the Environment and the Transportation Pathway of MIT’s Climate and Sustainability Consortium.

Florian’s research brings together Transport Economics, Environmental Economics, and related research questions in Energy Economics. He focuses on understanding the transition of transportation towards sustainable solutions. He develops and applies methods for techno-economic and lifecycle assessments, policy analyses, cost-benefit analysis, and market response modeling. He has focused on understanding the potentials of future energy carriers, including biofuels, Power-to-Liquid Fuels and Hydrogen. In addition, Florian has a broad research portfolio covering modeling and empirical analyses of air transportation markets. He is the developer of MIT’s Global Connectivity Index and has conducted numerous studies of the economy-wide impacts of air transport connections.

Florian holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Muenster, Germany.
